A designated person is a person who is responsible for safety on site. They may be responsible for arranging first aid, ensuring all safety regulations are met, and other functions related to the protection of workers' health on construction sites.
There should be trained first aiders on construction sites. First aid is the immediate action taken before medical help arrives. This includes basic skills such as CPR, stopping bleeding, etc. It is important that there is at least one person on site who holds a first aid competency certificate approved by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive).
